Leavensworth, WA

週末にLeavensworthに行ってきた。１１月のカリフォルニアへの旅の予行演習じゃぁないけれど、息子との旅というのに慣れておこうと言う意味と紅葉でも見に行くかと思って日帰りで行ってきた。全く何も調べずに行ったけど、ちょうどAutumn Leaf Festivalなるものが行われていた。LeavensworthはBarvarian townとして知られ、ヨーロッパからの移民が住み着いた街。街の雰囲気も全く違い、料理もバーバリアンフードなるものが出てくる。

We took another short trip to Leavensworth.  It was little practice for us to get used to be on the way with our son in preparation for our trip to CA in Nov.  Also, we wanted to see autumn leaf.  We did not research anything for this day trip, but they were hosting Autumn Leaf Festival.  Leavensworth is known as a Barvarian town, and we can see some European influences in how the town looks.  They serve Barvarian food at restaurants and some other European food and arts and crafts as well.

ビアガーデンもあった。Oktober Festは来週末らしい（残念！）まぁ、紅葉が綺麗で良かったです。

There was a beer garden!  Unfortunately, their Oktober Fest is on the next weekend.  But we enjoyed the autumn leaves.

ひまわり ～Sun flowers～

何で今頃にひまわり？と思われる方も多いかと思います。シアトルは紅葉が始まっているからなおのこと。夏中にひまわりを見かけることがなかったのですが、今日たまたま通りかかったコミュニティーガーデンなるものに咲いていました。背景の曇り空が残念ですが。

Some people might wonder why I put photos of sun flowers now.  Yes, it is true the fall has begun here in Seattle.  I just did not come across sun flowers during the summer.  I droved by a community garden today and saw these sun flowers.  It is too bad the background is the cloudy sky and not the sunny blue sky.

凧 ～Kite at Ocean Shores～

週末に息子が生まれてから初めて家族で小旅行に行った。行った先はOcean Shores, WA.　特に何があるって訳じゃないですが、太平洋を見に行ったようなもの。静岡で育った僕の記憶の中には海のものも結構あったので、息子を連れて海に行ってみたかった。行ったら、あれまぁ、かなりの数の人たちが凧揚げしてました。僕が子供の頃に揚げた凧とは全く違った形、色、大きさの凧というよりはカイトで、それはそれで綺麗でした。

We took our first mini-trip since the birth of our first child.  The destination was Ocean Shores, WA.  We did not go there to see anything in particular.  We pretty much went there to see the Pacific Ocean.  I have a lot of memory spending time on a beach where I grew up.  We just wanted our son to see the ocean for the first time.  To our surprise, there were a lot of kites flying in the sky.  These kites were definitely different in size, colors, and shapes from the ones I flew while I was a kid.  But they were beautiful and interesting to look at.

うちのちび太は気づくと昼寝、夜の寝場所を定期的に変えています。このベッドは多分犬用なのですが、サイズの大きいちび太にはちょうど良いだろうと数年前に買ったもの。ここ半年くらいはこのベッドで寝ることはなかったのですが、寒くなってきたからか、気が付いたら寝てました。なんとも幸せそうです。

愛用しているXTiがメンテのため手元にないため、フィルムカメラで撮影。使い勝手が良いだろうとISO400のフィルムを使っていたけれど、実際に印刷してもらったらノイズがすごいのに驚いた。ちょっとショック。まぁ、安いフィルムだったし、それがいけないんだろうかなぁ。次回は（と言っても６本で＄１０で買ってるからまだこのフィルムが残ってるんだけど）ISO100か２００でいこうっと。それにしてもデジタルに慣れてしまっているから、シャッターを押した後に画面を探してしまう自分が情けない。。。

風林火山 完結編 サウンドトラック ～Furinkazan Original Soundtrack～

NHK大河ドラマの風林火山自体は見たこともありませんが、母が送ってくれたオリジナルサウンドトラックが最近のお気に入りです。昔からクラシック も好きな分野でしたが、このサウンドトラックはいけてます。千住明が作曲、編曲、プロデュースし、彼自身もピアノソロでメインテーマを弾いています。

僕 にとってはメインテーマが僕の中で想像する戦国時代の武将や侍の強さを感じさせてくれるもので、このアルバムの中にある６バージョンのメインテーマのどれ もが好きですね。チェン・ミンの二胡で演奏されたものはその音色が素晴らしい。沖仁のフラメンコギターの物もギター弾きの僕としてはしびれるものがある。 上妻宏光の津軽三味線のものが最も気に入っているけれど、オーケストラをバックに三味線らしい音で格好よく演奏してくれているのは本当にしびれる。千住真 理子のヴァイオリンのものは、その音色と音の緩急、音の響きが本当に美しい。メインテーマだけでも買う価値ありだと思えてしまう。

が、その他２８曲あり、どれもが良い味を出しているように思う。自宅でコンピュータを使っているときは大抵これを流しているし、車を運転している時もここ３週間ほどはこれをかけっ放しだ。サッカーの試合前なんかは津軽三味線の物で気合を入れているしね。

Though I have not seen any episode of NHK’s drama series Furinkazan, its original soundtrack has been my favorite CD for the past few weeks.  Of course, I have always loved classical music, but this one is great.  Akira Senju composed, scored, arranged and produced this one.  He also plays the main theme solo on the piano.

Even though I love the whole soundtrack, I must say I love the 6 different versions of the main theme.  The piece played by Chen Min shows how beautiful erhu sounds.  Jin Oki displays his skills on the flamenco guitar that appeals to me as a guitarist.  My favorite is the piece played with Tsugaru shamisen by Hiromitsu Agatsuma.  He does a tremendous job maintaining the traditional sounds of Tsugaru shamisen, but also fuses the sound with the background orchestra.  The violin piece played by Mariko Senju shows how beautiful violin sounds and how emotional she can play the instrument.  I really think these main themes are worth buying the CD.

But other 28 pieces are great as well.  It can be very relaxing.  I have been listening to this at my computer and also while driving for the past three weeks.  I even prepare myself for soccer matches by listening to the piece performed by Agatsuma.
