なぜ今更フィルム？と思われる人も多いでしょうが、中古でフィルムカメラを買いました。もちろん、デジタルと同じでキャノンにしました。モデルはElan 7NEで多分４年ほど前に発売されたもので、キャノンのプロ使用以外のフィルムカメラの最後のモデルだと思われるもの。実際に使ってみると、重さ、持った感覚、フォーカスのスムーズさ、静かな動作などなど、撮っていて気持ちが良いです。僕のデジタルのシャッターの音がうるさすぎるように感じるほどです。もちろん、サブとして使う予定ですが、写真を学ぶのには良いかなぁと思っています。

もうしばらく前のことになってしまったが、大学院時代からの友人林夫妻から長男の出産祝いにアルバムをいただいた。写真を撮ることが好きな僕にとってはうれしいことですが、このアルバムには表紙にフットプリントを入れる枠があるのとともに、息子の名前、誕生日、そしてその時間までもがモノグラムで入っているのが気に入っています。実は僕は自分が生まれた時間を知らないので（親も覚えていないよう）、こうやって残せることがうれしいです。

週末に日本の友人と話しをした際に、カメラやコンピュータのスピーカーの話にも話が飛んだ。新しい住居でのコンピュータスピーカーの購入を考えているらしく、せっかく購入するのだからこだわって良いものを買うとの事。僕もお金があれば音楽愛好家であった叔父のようにオーディオ機器に時間とお金をかけたいと思っているが、今のところはそんな余裕はなし。でも同じ聞く音楽なら多少はこだわろうということで、コンピュータ・iPod用のスピーカーにはKlipsch iFiを選んだ。コンピュータで映像を楽しむ必要がないので2.1チャンネルで十分。出力、音、見た目のどれも満足してます。

この椅子とこのコーナーが僕が家で一番気に入っている空間です。この椅子、Stressless Chairと呼ばれるもので、ストレスを軽減させてくれるというのが謳い文句。本当かどうかはさておき、この椅子で音楽を聴きながら読書するというのが大好きです。一年半前に引っ越した際に、せっかく買うのなら気に入ったものを買おうと奥さんと決めて買いました。日曜の午前にコーヒーを飲みながら、好きな音楽をかけ、新聞を読む。実に充実した時間と空間です。

日本だとお花見の季節。普段はあまりお酒を飲むことが無い僕ですが、お酒は好きな方です。どうせ飲むならその場の雰囲気や一緒に飲む人との時間を更に楽しみたいと、飲む器にもこだわりたいと思っています。このぐい呑みセットは漆職人をしている叔父からいただいたもの。５つのぐい呑みとサイコロのセットですが、ぐい呑みの底には鶴・亀・松・竹・梅と所謂縁起の良い物が描かれ、サイコロの6面のうち5面は同様の絵が一つずつ描かれ、最後の一面にはウタと書かれています。サイコロを振って自分が飲むぐい呑みを選ぶとともに、もしウタを出してしまったら歌を歌わなければならないというちょっとした遊び心が最高です。

This acoustic guitar is probably the oldest item I own. I got this guitar when I started playing about 19 years ago. I guess I played long enough to change the color of the fretboard.

アメリカに住むようになってから特に、日本らしいもの、日本を思わせるようなものが好きになりました。歳を重ねているのも一つの理由かもしれませんが。。。このランプは現在住んでいる家に引っ越した際に義理の両親にいただいたものです。かなり日本っぽくて好きです。特に竹の絵が透かしで入っている辺りが更に良い味を出してますね。ちなみに、このランプを義理の両親はアリゾナで行われたクラフトフェアで購入したとか。サンディエゴ郊外のLa MesaにあるTakumi Designsの作。

シアトルに長年住んでいることが関係しているのかもしれませんが、一日に一杯のコーヒーを飲む生活をして暫く経ちます。普段は便利だという理由で、某大手コーヒーチェインでコーヒーを買うことが多いのですが、本当は家でゆっくりと、気に入ったカップで楽しむのが大好きです。このカップは暫く前に姉が送ってくれたもの。日本っぽさと洋式のバランスが取れた感じが気に入ってます。
